To Begin With

There were talks that in the wake of Henry’s Departure the side would be weakened and some even dared to say that we might be relegated. The so called “pundits” criticized us and even went on to say that SPURS would finish above us. But the so called pundits should have known better because Arsene Knows. Well letting go of Henry and Freddie has encouraged younger players to come up and take more responsibility. This is vital because the team was very good last year and there was just something missing.
Wenger has shown great faith in his players again and they have repaid him aptly. Wenger’s decision to let go of Henry and not to make offers for other big name players has let the young gunners develop. When you know that the manager believes in you and someone else shows so much faith in you, one starts to realise how good he is. That’s what has happened this year.
The fact that Wenger didn’t bring in too many players and replaced one striker with another allowed the core team to remain unchanged. The team that has been playing and training together since over 2 years. The guys know how other players around him play. The understanding between them is great and that’s what is the key to playing good football…KNOW YOUR TEAM…BE A TEAM.
Another factor for a good start this year is a succesful pre-season. The team played together in two tournaments and won them against quality oppositions. There has been no change to side after this has enabled players to gel together.

The match against Derby was crucial because last season it was the smaller side’s who fancied at beating us. It was essential to show that the side has grown and matured. The team played well and the five goal demolition of Derby tells that we mean business. The side is young and is beginning to look like Champions everyday. The mentallity is there and talent for sure. What we need is patience and concentration. This can be beginning of a new Era. At the start of the season i said THE WOW STARTS NOW … this is what I meant.
